Tartans Awaken the Christmas Spirit Through Carols and Dance

This week, campus was brightened and the spirit of the holiday season was celebrated in dance and musical performances from all divisions.
The Lower School presented its annual Advent and Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols. This was the 32nd annual gathering of our longest-standing St. Margaret’s tradition. The Middle School and Upper School celebrated the holidays by showcasing their musical and instrumental talents, the Preschool performed the annual Christmas Pageant and students from all divisions performed in the All-School Dance Recital.

In the spirit of Christmas, our Lower School initiated many outreach opportunities in December which offered assistance to our local community including Father Serra’s Food Pantry, Head Start families, CHOC Children’s Hospital, Human Options and Emeritus Assisted Living senior home.

A Wet but Very Successful St. Margaret’s Open House

The heavy rain certainly didn’t deter prospective students and parents from attending this year’s annual Admission Open House on Saturday. St. Margaret’s students, faculty, parents and administrators showcased the unique strengths and characteristics of a St. Margaret’s education to hundreds of visitors throughout the day.

Kindergarten students were filled with excitement as Isabel Janavs and the Candy Monster dropped in to Sillers Hall yesterday to read Izzy and the Candy Palace. Grade 1 Students Learn Holiday Traditions Via Videoconference

Last week, Mrs. Elizabeth Bauer’s grade 1 students met with a teacher from the EarlyWorks Museum in Alabama to learn about the history of holiday traditions. Via videoconference, students learned about unique traditions, such as turkey’s getting pardoned and hanging Christmas trees.

St. Margaret's Library and Students Celebrate Aldine Sillers Animal Awareness Week

This week, the Library once again honored St. Margaret’s first Librarian Aldine Sillers by celebrating pets and the animals that share the world with us. Aldine Sillers, beyond loving stories and libraries, loved animals. As a result, five years ago the St. Margaret’s Library started the tradition of celebrating Aldine Sillers Animal Awareness Week. This year, our theme was Our Pets, Our Heroes.
