Dear Parents,
Please review the following Drop Off/Pick Up, campus traffic flow and parking procedures for the 2011-2012 school year, including the process for families with children in multiple divisions of the school.
Please take special note of the following changes:
1) There are new designated parking spaces (painted green for parents) and instructions for parents who wish to park and walk onto campus to pick up their children.
2) The Drop Off/Pick Up location for grades 4 and 5 have changed.

Grade 2 Students Learn About Different Cultures During Passport Day

On Passport Day, we brought in food and clothing from our countries and shared what we learned. We got to visit different countries and wrote notes in our passports. This was a fun way to learn about where we are from and about other cultures!

Grade 4 Students Present Their NAIS 20/20 Water Challenge Projects

On Wednesday, grade 4 students had a chance to present their Water Challenge Project in hopes of bringing more awareness to water conservation and deficits both locally and globally. The students shared all of their hard work and creativity with parents, faculty and grade 5 students. The students truly took ownership of this challenge and succeeded at bringing more awareness to this issue.

A representative from the Pet Project Foundation that supports the San Clemente Animal Shelter visited Kindergarten classrooms on Wednesday to talk with students about what the animal shelter does to support animals in our community.

Lower School Musical Follows the Yellow Brick Road

“Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!” More than 200 students, both onstage and behind the scenes, brought to life last week’s 2011 Lower School spring musical production, The Wizard of Oz. As the largest Lower School spring musical production in St. Margaret’s Episcopal School’s history, students in grades 1 through 5 worked together to bring the amazing characters of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, the Lion and Toto to the stage of Sillers Hall.

Lower School Students Spend the Day with Grandparents and Special Friends: A Cherished Tradition

Last Friday, more than 500 grandparents and special friends came from around the country and as far away as Ecuador to participate in a memorable morning of student performances and classroom activities during the cherished annual Grandparents & Special Friends Day.
The day began in the Pasternack Field House where guests enjoyed a catered breakfast and slideshow of photos from throughout the school year. Lower School Science Students Get “Buzzy” About Bees

The Discovery Science Center joined St. Margaret’s Lower School science classroom on Monday, May 2 for an inspiring science program called Buzzy Bees. Mrs. Anne Kemp’s Kindergarten class got “buzzy” learning about bees through an engaging lesson in which their science teacher Ms. Morgan Young was transformed into a giant bee!

Lower School Students Trot to a Successful Fitness Challenge

Beautiful blue skies and 80 degree temperatures blessed the 2011 Tartan Trot jog-a-thon on April 1. On the Friday before spring break, more than 400 Lower School students took over Gateway Field and proved that Fitness (definitely) isn’t Foolish, which was this year’s theme. Students poured onto the field through the Tartan Tunnel and gave it their all during the annual fundraiser and fitness challenge.
