Upper School Students Acknowledged at Honors Assembly

On Friday, October 8, 190 St. Margaret’s Upper School students were acknowledged and celebrated for their academic accomplishments through national merit recognition, Headmaster’s Honors and Honors for the spring 2010 semester.
Students on the Honor Roll earned a spring semester GPA of 3.5 to 3.74, and students on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll earned a spring semester GPA of 3.75 or higher. For a full list of honorees, click here to read the Honors Assembly program.

Johnny Li’s Cancer Research Profiled in OC Register

St. Margaret’s senior Johnny Li was profiled in The Orange County Register this week and on KCBS TV Channel 2 for his work at University of California, Irvine applying math to researching motion and growth of cancer cells. His efforts have been recognized by the Davidson Institute with a $10,000 scholarship. To read the OC Register article, please click here.

2010 Upper School Awards

Last Friday, St. Margaret’s Upper School students gathered in the Pasternack Field House for the 2010 Upper School Awards Ceremony. This ceremony recognizes the exemplary academic work Upper School students have done throughout the school year and honors students for their outstanding work beyond the classroom as well as their contribution to the life of the school.

Cum Laude Society Inducts 21 Top St. Margaret’s Students

Last month, seven juniors and 14 seniors were inducted into the Cum Laude Society, an international honors organization for which only a small percentage of high school juniors and seniors are qualified. To be eligible, juniors must rank in the top 10 percent of their class, and seniors must rank in the top 20 percent of their class. In addition, each inductee must be approved by the Cum Laude committee, consisting of school faculty and administrators who evaluate whether they strive for perfection in their coursework and set high academic …

Johnny Li Represents St. Margaret’s in Prestigious State and International Science Competitions

Next week, St. Margaret’s student Johnny Li, grade 11, will represent our school and Orange County at the California State Science Fair, May 17–18, at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. He will be competing against 958 other participants from 394 schools throughout California. Although Johnny is excited about this great honor, resulting from his win at the Orange County Science Fair, this is not his only recent science victory. Two St. Margaret’s Students Named Among Top Chemistry Students in Orange County

Two St. Margaret’s Upper School students were recognized among the top chemistry students in Orange County at the American Chemical Society’s 2009 Orange County Section High School Awards last week at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. Johnny Li, grade 10, and Anna McGregor, grade 10, placed in the top 10 of Orange County students in the categories of second-year chemistry students and first-year chemistry students, respectively, in the ACS U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad for high school students.
