Climbing Mt. Everest to the Top of the World

This month, Upper School Assistant Principal Ryan Dahlem and his father Dr. John Dahlem spoke to Middle and Upper School students and parents about their successful Himalayan expedition and climb of Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world at 29,035 ft., in the spring of 2010. Next Friday, February 4, at 9 a.m., they will give an encore presentation to the Lower School in the Chapel. Parents are welcome to attend.

Ryan Dahlem and his father John Dahlem reached the summit of Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world at 29,029 ft., Monday, May 24, 2010 at approximately 10 a.m. Nepal time (Sunday, May 23, 9 p.m. California time). We’ve received reports that they spent about 30 minutes on the summit before descending safely to the South Col. They will rest over night at Camp Four and then descend to Base Camp tomorrow. Climbing to New Heights, in Chapel and the Library

This week during Middle School and Upper School Chapel, Mr. Ryan Dahlem, Director of Admission and Financial Aid at St. Margaret’s, spoke about his recent Himalayan climbing expedition to Cho Oyu.
Mr. Dahlem and his father have traveled to Africa, Alaska, Russia, Argentina and Antarctica, and together they have climbed five of the “seven summits,” the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
