Caltrans Ortega Bridge Lane Reductions Begin This Weekend

Caltrans has confirmed that the lane reductions on the Ortega Highway bridge over the I-5 freeway, originally estimated for May 28, will occur this Saturday, June 1 at approximately 10 p.m. Click here to read the Caltrans announcement.

Students Raise Funds to Aid Pacific Marine Mammal Center

From Lower School to Upper School, St. Margaret’s students organized an all-school fundraiser to help the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach. This year, the center rescued a record-high number of seals. Through the combined efforts of the school, the students raised $6,504.62, which is expected to support 13 seal pups from rescue to release including fish and medication.

Moms In Prayer, a Christian prayer group, would like to welcome you to join in prayer and fellowship every Thursday morning after drop off in Room 31, located directly across from the St. Margaret’s Church Office. The group of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School moms gathers until about 9:15 a.m. to pray for the St. Margaret’s community including students, families, alumni, teachers, staff and the administration. They also pray for any special intentions they receive through their email link.

Sign Up For Caltrans I-5 Construction Email Alerts

This week, Caltrans experienced unexpected project changes regarding the installation of temporary lights at the I-5/Ortega Construction project that caused significant traffic delays on Tuesday along Ortega Highway. Additionally, the change to temporary lights has caused further residual traffic impact. Caltrans is working to sync the temporary lights on and around the bridge on Ortega to ease this problem in the next few weeks.

I-5/Ortega Construction Update—Bridge Construction to Begin in June

The Orange County Register reported this week that Caltrans expects the major bridge construction that will create the most significant traffic impact to the area to begin in June 2013. St. Margaret’s has requested a long-term construction timeline from Caltrans.
Next week, Caltrans reports that preliminary infrastructure work to install temporary traffic signals and remove vegetation along the construction site will continue with lane and ramp closures taking place after 11 p.m. and concluding by 5 a.m.
