2011 Grad Doug Davis Competes in National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York City

The next four years of Class of 2011 graduate Doug Davis’ life hinge on what happens tonight (June 27) on Broadway. Doug will compete against 49 other top-notch theater students from across the nation in the National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York. The first-place male and female winners receive a $20,000 scholarship to study theater at New York University, contingent on university admission, plus $10,000 cash.

OC Register Selects Johnny Li as 2011 Graduate who will Change the World

The Orange County Register has selected 10 2011 graduates who will change the world.
More than 110 public and private Orange County high schools were invited to nominate at least one graduate whom they believed would change the world. St. Margaret’s 2011 Valedictorian Johnny Li was selected from a pool of more than 40 applicants.

Top St. Margaret’s 2011 Graduates Honored in OC Register

Orange County’s graduation season hit high gear this week, with more than half the 112 public and private high schools holding commencement ceremonies. To help mark these students’ accomplishments, The Orange County Register honors each school’s top four graduates – one each for academics, athletics, arts and community service. From St. Margaret’s, G. Jared Schoeffel, Sarah Paddon, Doug Davis and Sarah Greenberg are honored.

St. Margaret’s Upper School Students Win Prestigious Awards at the 2011 Orange County Cappies Gala

At the formal Cappies gala held Sunday, June 5, St. Margaret’s students received honors and recognition for their performances in the arts and as student critics.
The event, held at the Grove in Anaheim, opened with a performance titled “The Lullaby of Broadway,” featuring St. Margaret’s seniors Doug Davis and Carlye Porrazzo, both nominated in Lead Role categories. Doug Davis was nominated as Lead Actor in a Play and for Lead Actor in a Musical. Carlye Porrazzo was nominated as Lead Actress in a Musical.

Johnny Li: One of 10 Selected for Disney Scholarship

Of more than 125 high school seniors from across Orange County, senior Johnny Li has been selected as one of ten to receive a $5,000 college scholarship from the Disneyland Resort. Applicants were required to complete at least 100 hours of volunteer service last year and achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Johnny’s volunteer service included founding the Orange County Math Circle and joining the Art of Problem Solving Foundation.

Last Friday, the 2011 Upper School Awards Ceremony honored the exemplary academic achievement of St. Margaret’s junior and senior students, their outstanding work beyond the classroom and contributions to the life of the school throughout their Upper School careers. Awards were given to students who showed high academic distinction, outstanding leadership, high character, extracurricular involvement and exceptional athletic ability.

Johnny Li Receives National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation Award

On Monday, The Orange County Register announced that three Orange County high school seniors have received awards from the National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation. Senior Johnny Li was among the three seniors. Out of 4,500 applicants nationwide, there were 131 winners. Each recipient won a $1,000 scholarship.
To enter the competition, Johnny wrote about his experience in founding and growing the Orange County Math Circle as a non-profit business since 2007.
