Sign Up For Caltrans I-5 Construction Email Alerts

This week, Caltrans experienced unexpected project changes regarding the installation of temporary lights at the I-5/Ortega Construction project that caused significant traffic delays on Tuesday along Ortega Highway. Additionally, the change to temporary lights has caused further residual traffic impact. Caltrans is working to sync the temporary lights on and around the bridge on Ortega to ease this problem in the next few weeks.

A Magical Night at the Opera – 2013 All-School Spring Fundraiser

For those who attended the St. Margaret’s Annual Spring Fundraiser “Music of the Night” at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, it was an evening that will be remembered for many years to come.
From the moment guests entered the foyer, they experienced the first of what would be many surprises. As guests approached the foyer, Phantom of the Opera music was played on a piano by St. Margaret’s senior Austin Foley, shrouded by fog and candelabra. St. Margaret’s Sponsors San Juan’s Beloved 55th Annual Swallows Day Parade

This year’s 55th Annual Swallows Day Parade themed, “Happy Trails,” brought thousands of families to the streets of historic downtown San Juan Capistrano to celebrate the community and the return of the swallows. St. Margaret’s has been a proud supporter of the parade as a division sponsor for more than 10 years and a parade sponsor for the past four years. The Upper School Operation Help-A-Hero Club will be running a toiletries drive during the two weeks following Spring Break. We would greatly appreciate donations of new toiletries and bath items of any size (shampoo, body wash, soap, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, lotion, etc.). There will be a marked plastic bin located in each division office. All donated toiletries will be used for Operation Help-A-Hero’s barracks projects, where volunteers prepare the barracks for returning Marines. I-5/Ortega Construction Update—Bridge Construction to Begin in June

The Orange County Register reported this week that Caltrans expects the major bridge construction that will create the most significant traffic impact to the area to begin in June 2013. St. Margaret’s has requested a long-term construction timeline from Caltrans.
Next week, Caltrans reports that preliminary infrastructure work to install temporary traffic signals and remove vegetation along the construction site will continue with lane and ramp closures taking place after 11 p.m. and concluding by 5 a.m.

At San Juan Capistrano Mayor John Taylor’s 2013 State of the City address last week, St. Margaret’s Headmaster Marcus D. Hurlbut was presented the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Arts & Culture Award. According to award presenter, Councilman Sam Allevato, Mr. Hurlbut was chosen for his significant contributions to making the city a more vibrant, well-rounded and culturally aware community.
