Throughout the past few months, we have worked on shedding some light on the importance of supporting the Annual Fund by highlighting the impact that St. Margaret’s has on all of our lives. From its educational impact, to those benefits that go beyond the tangible and will last a lifetime, to the feelings we all have about this institution.
We all are tied to St. Margaret’s – some of us by the work we do, many by the time spent here volunteering as part of this …

Spring is in the air and in our step. It’s in the way the light breaks through the clouds and seeps through the trees. It’s in the longer days that promise warmer nights. It’s in the way we open our minds to the summer that’s yet to come. It’s in the way our hearts open to the promise of new possibilities – it’s in the way we hope.
It reminds us that the end of the school year is near. There are events to plan, performances …

As spring nears and our calendar gets busier, I sit here thinking of deadlines and events and to-dos, but one thing remains clear. Every occasion, every event, every plan, every meeting… everything we do circles back to one thing and one thing only: our students. Our whole purpose, the mission of our school and every decision made here is for the benefit of our students.
We have a community of parents who spend countless hours here, intricately woven into the fabric of St. Margaret’s. They – …

It is often tempting to think about what the Annual Fund supports in tangible terms – whether it’s 20 computers, 15 whiteboards, costumes for the spring musical or professional development for 30 teachers…
We can probably come up with a list of things and give you a very transactional reason to support the Annual Fund each year. We can come up with a list of exciting things: new iPads for greater teaching and learning experiences, PicoCrickets for the latest in math and science exercises for the …

The end of the calendar year is around the corner, and I’d like to thank those of you who have already made a gift to this year’s Annual Fund campaign, our amazing volunteer team, and our wonderful co-chairs, Scott and Jennifer Arundale.

We asked members of our community to tell us what they’re grateful for this year. Here is a collection of thoughts from faculty, students and parents.
“I am particularly thankful that our faculty and administration are focused on teaching our children how to treat each other with decency and respect. The importance of these lessons far outweighs the importance of any lesson I can remember learning in school.”
Kathi Coleman
“I walked up to my son on campus and gave him a big hug in front of all …

At St. Margaret’s, students’ backgrounds may be different, but the opportunities are the same. Every mind is challenged, encouraged and fed. Every thought is welcomed. Every child is embraced.
St. Margaret’s commitment extends beyond a family’s ability to cover the full cost of tuition, opening up possibilities for students who would otherwise not be able to attend the school. In fact, about 25 percent of families at St. Margaret’s receive some level of financial assistance.
This week, we hear from one of our students who benefits from …

Passion. It’s a common thread at St. Margaret’s–passion for one’s children, for teaching, for volunteering, for a rewarding job, for education. Passion for offering opportunities and helping young minds learn. Passion for helping students find their voice.
It’s in the teacher who has spent 31 years here, welcoming new families year after year and saying goodbye to his or her students at every Commencement. It’s in the “lifer” who started his or her journey in Preschool and formed lifelong friendships along the way. It’s in the …

This week, we focus on a student’s story and the impact that St. Margaret has had on her life. Join us as we discover why she loves St. Margaret’s.
At St. Margaret’s, Emma Rice has grown from a toddler into a young woman who is ready to explore what the future has to offer and who hopes to make a difference in other people’s lives. If she had to use one word to describe her experience here, it would be “supportive.”
Emma has been at St. Margaret’s since she was three years …

If you were walking along St. Margaret’s corridors and into the different classrooms, what would you see? What would you feel? What would you take away?
You would see teachers who have intimate knowledge of the subject matter they teach. You would see small classroom sizes with perhaps 15 students each. You would see technology at work–from lab equipment to telescopes, from smart boards to tablet PCs. You would see teachers engaging young minds in the arts of reasoning and critical thinking. You would see students …
