The Capistrano Dispatch Profiles Senior Harrison White

This week, The Capistrano Dispatch profiled senior Harrison White and his commitment to play baseball for Yale University in the fall. Click here to view the article.
White, a member of the varsity football and baseball teams at St. Margaret’s, received offers from a number of other colleges and universities, but committed to Yale, acknowledging that Yale offers a unique opportunity to be in a very strong academic environment and a chance to play Division 1 baseball in the Ivy League.

Students Organize Successful Book Drive to Donate to Local Schools in Need of Library Resources

With the help of the St. Margaret’s community, Upper School students Carolyn King, Alissa Ohanesian, Harout Ohanesian and Victoria Lee, founders of the club Books for a Brighter Future, organized a book drive that resulted in a successful turnout of nearly 4,000 books within a three-week period. Having collected a variety of new to gently-used books, the group donated them to some of San Juan Capistrano’s local schools in need of library resources.

Alumna Maggie Shipstead Wins Dylan Thomas Prize for First Novel

For her debut novel Seating Arrangements Maggie was awarded the annual Dylan Thomas Prize at a special ceremony at the National Waterfront Museum last Friday. The prize is given to an author of a novel, play, poetry or travel book in the English language who is under 30. Judges said her novel showed immense maturity and great accomplishment.
Launched in 2006, the annual Dylan Thomas Prize is one of the most prestigious awards for young writers in the world. It is an international literary award aimed at encouraging raw creative talent …

Former Tartan Drew Lind Shines at Pitzer College

After red-shirting his first year of college at Boston University, Lind (a 2010 St. Margaret’s alum) transferred to Pitzer College to play for the Sagehens, an NCSAA Division 3 team. His presence at midfield has already paid dividends for his team during their current 11-game win streak.

Senior Brandon Price Commits to Attend and Run at Harvard University

Senior Brandon Price has committed to attend and run at Harvard University next fall.
Brandon was a second team all-county runner last season, had a top five finish at the Academy League Finals, the CIF-SS Division 5 Finals, and the CIF Division 5 state finals.
Brandon will be reunited at Harvard with former Tartan teammate and the Register’s 2011 Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year Billy Gaudreau.
