Cat13.1962The 2013 Upper School play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, has been nominated as Best Play for the 2013 Orange County CAPPIES for the 2012-2013 theater season! In addition, individual nominations for the play include: Lead Actor in a Play, Brooks Robinson as Brick Pollit, Lead Actress in a Play, Delanie Melbon as Maggie Pollit, Supporting Actor in a Play, Mattingly Messina as Big Daddy and for Technical Lighting, Maddie Bidmead.

The CAPPIES is a national program, sponsored locally by The Orange County Register. It recognizes achievement in high school arts and drama programs. It is worth noting that in our CAPPIES area, St. Margaret’s competes against large public and private schools, including a number of specialized performing arts high schools. The Orange County CAPPIES Critics team view performances by 32 high schools and select “Critics’ Choices” in all eligible categories. Those Critics’ Choices go on the ballot for voting, which was completed in early May. The top five become nominees. The winners will be revealed on June 2 at a black-tie event known as the Cappies Gala.

For the first time, St. Margaret’s hosted the 2013 CAPPIES Nominees and Commendees Reception on Wednesday, May 22, in the Performing Arts Center.

The cast of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof has been invited to perform a scene at the Cappies Gala at the Grove in Anaheim on Sunday, June 2.
