DSC_1789Learning in the preschool is hands-on and full of observing and making discoveries. Celebrating Earth Day is no exception. This week, preschoolers read stories about gardens, trash and protecting the Earth, they brainstormed ecological strategies, gathered trash around the school, got ‘dirty’ and explored the properties of soil, planted seeds, thought about the lifecycle of plants and worked in the St. Margaret’s Episcopal School Community Garden. Some children sang and moved their bodies to show the process from seed to plant—and another class even wrote a book about a ‘magic garden’ where candy, donuts, flowers, lollipops, LEGOs® and jellybeans grow side by side. Plants aren’t the only thing growing in the Preschool…there’s imagination as well!
