Special Camp for Special Kids hosted its fourth annual spring session earlier this week, welcoming 15 camper and 15 counselor participants. The program’s spring session was developed to give campers and counselors the chance to get together for two days of fun and friendship outside of the program’s summer sessions. Additionally, this mini-camp is geared toward Special Camp’s older camper participants (18 and over) in an effort to increase opportunities for social interaction with their non-disabled peers.

Over the course of the two days, the participants enjoyed spending time together while bowling, exploring Boomers! in Irvine, and experiencing Knott’s Berry Farm. Spring session was then capped-off with a small family picnic in the Tartan Courtyard. Special Camp hopes to continue to expand upon activities outside of the summer program for all of its participants, keeping in mind its mission to provide a revolutionary program for youth with and without disabilities in the community.
