Thursday, January 17, 6 p.m. Location: Hurlbut Theater

Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 17 for a Parent Teacher Fellowship Parent UP special presentation of the film “Behind the Orange Curtain.” The film will screen in the Hurlbut Theatre of the Performing Arts Center from 6-8:30 p.m.

“Behind the Orange Curtain” is a must see film for parents. The Upper School will be screening the film on Friday, January 18.

This award-winning documentary delves into the staggering problem of teenage drug abuse in Orange County, Calif. Young, privileged teenagers are dying of drug overdoses in record numbers in Orange County. This documentary film will set out to ask the question…why?

Prescription drug abuse does not discriminate. It impacts all socio-economic and educational backgrounds. This powerful film hits home by depicting the emotional stories of many local families that have been devastated by their teen’s addiction to drugs – an addiction that often starts in the family’s own medicine cabinet.

Following the screening of the film, there will be a panel discussion with a question and answer session led by Natalie Costa, the executive producer of the film. Joining Natalie will be a drug enforcement agent from Orange County, Della Lisi-Kerr from the Orange County Board of Health, Drug Enforcement Administrator Mark Nomady, and special guest parents Jodi Barber Jim Kennedy, who both lost their sons to a prescription drug overdose.

Refreshments will be served in the Performing Arts Center lobby prior to the screening. To view the trailer: http://behindtheorangecurtain.net/behind-the-orange-curtain-new-trailer/
