The next four years of Class of 2011 graduate Doug Davis’ life hinge on what happens tonight (June 27) on Broadway. Doug will compete against 49 other top-notch theater students from across the nation in the National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York. The first-place male and female winners receive a $20,000 scholarship to study theater at New York University, contingent on university admission, plus $10,000 cash.

Doug plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts in the fall and major in game design, but if he wins tonight, those plans might change.

Doug advanced to the national competition after placing first in the Childress Music and Arts Commendations for Youth (M.A.C.Y.) competition at the county level for his role as Rochester in the Upper School spring musical Jane Eyre.
